Greetings! I am Jerry Jones one of the Pastoral team at Asbury UMC. I was born in Lynchburg, VA and spent most of my childhood moving around the Southeast while my father worked for GE. My favorite thing about Asbury is the heart of the people, we truly embrace our role in the community. In my Job at Asbury I have come across some of the most wonderful people who truly love Jesus, this includes staff and laity.
Just to share a little about myself. I love sweets! That’s probably why I married Joy!!!! My favorite is going to be anything with white chocolate. Joy and I are blessed with three boys. Taylor the oldest is in the Air Force and is married to Lori Ann. Grayson is our middle son and is majoring in Chemical engineering at the University of Tennessee. Chandler, the youngest, is at Coastal Carolina majoring in Marine Science. My favorite bible verse is from Hebrews 13:1 “Let mutual love continue!” Raising three sons this sometimes turned into a mantra. In our house we have 3 dogs, two cats, two fish and a rabbit. So Joy and I will probably never truly be empty nesters.
I have always loved movies. There is something wonderful about watching a movie, and entering into another world for a little while. When I was in the Navy I went to the movies in Hong Kong, to see The Terminator, which is probably the farthest I ever traveled for a movie.
Finally, if I could have dinner with Jesus we would skip dinner go straight to dessert and have dates and raisin cakes, with white chocolate of course.

Blessings! I am Shannon Marie Berry and proud to be a part of the Pastoral team at Asbury United Methodist Church. I was born in Johnson City, TN and raised in Gray, TN. My favorite thing about Asbury is the stories the people of Asbury have to share. As I leave work each day, I am completely exhausted, but it is the good kind of exhaustion that comes from having your bucket filled and no day being the same as the last.
My favorite desserts are gulab jamun and creme brulee. I do not eat a lot of sweets, mainly fruit, and do not care for chocolate at all. I enjoy sharing meal times with my family. Jason and I met while I was working at his father’s medical practice while in college and have been married over 15 years. We have two children. Bird is in middle school and our brain. Sister is in elementary school and our loving heart.
A song that describes me is “Revolution” by Starfield. My favorite bible verse is Luke 7:39 & 47-48. She stood behind him at his feet, weeping, and began to bathe his feet with her tears and to dry them with her hair. Then she continued kissing his feet and anointing them with the ointment… Therefore, I tell you, her sins, which were many, have been forgiven; hence she has shown great love. But the one to whom little is forgiven, loves little.’ Then he said to her, ‘Your sins are forgiven.’ I love music, especially live performances. There is very little I won’t listen to… After all, “I will try anything once.” I enjoy playing saxophone, guitar, and handbells. I love to sing.
As part of my seminary education, I went on a cross-cultural trip to India. While in Madurai, we stayed at the Tamil Nadu Theological Seminary and visited the Meenakshi Temple. We traveled to Chennai and visited the tomb of the Apostle Thomas and the Bay of Bengal. We spent time in the mountains in Kodaikanal. Our final portion of the trip was spent in New Delhi. Yes, I have been to the Taj Mahal. Even now, when I close my eyes and think about it, I am taken back to the sights, sounds, and smells. I am searching for real Indian food here in America.
If I could have dinner with Jesus, the meal served would be prime rib cooked medium-rare with horseradish sauce, roasted Brussels sprouts, Ceasar salad with homemade dressing, and a sweet potato.
